This letter is in support of Mitchell Wyss for a position in the Visual Communication and Design field. Mitchell was a student in my Illustration III and IV classes in the Department of Visual Communication and Design at IPFW. As a student Mitch constantly showed a strong desire to further his knowledge in Visual Communication and has always been willing to explore new artistic techniques and methods to do so.
Mitchell showed strong initiative when approaching an assignment. Through strong research and conceptual brainstorming he always explored a problem from various angles, never settling for the first idea that came to mind. This makes his work strong in relation to the subject matter and intriguing to the viewer, showing great creativity and capturing the emotional state of the subject. Mitchell’s work invites discussion, using satire and humor to push the subject matter to the brink of controversy without pulling for a particular side of the issue, leaving that to the individual viewer. This was especially evident in the imagery for his Senior Thesis project his senior year of school.
Always striving to turn in high quality projects, Mitchell exceeded assignment criteria and constantly looked for ways to improve his work and artistic abilities through peer critiques and instructor suggestions, resulting in consistently high grades. This thirst to constantly learn and grow in all aspects of the art and design world is one of Mitchell’s biggest strengths. The classes that he took with me involved creating original illustrations with the use of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop which would be used as everything from the lead visual to an editorials to the visual imagery on a theater poster. When working with the programs, he was never hesitant to ask for advice on using the various tools, and if outside of class would do the research to figure it out on his own. Being in the professional art field for 25 years as well as the academic, this is a quality I see that not everyone has, but everyone should, with technology changing daily the way that art is created, viewed and perceived.
This strong work ethic of Mitchell’s rubbed off on the other students around him which lead to improvement in their own projects. In addition to his strong work ethic, Mitchell was very dependable and personable. He never missed a class or assignment deadline. Students would regularly ask his opinion on their projects as they worked in class. He freely participated in the class critiques of projects, giving constructive suggestions to students on how they could improve their work without insulting or embarrassing them in any form, while taking the suggestions he received to make positive improvements to his own work. I believe the qualities exhibited by Mitchell would make him an excellent choice for any position in the Visual Communication and Design field. Please feel free to contact me with any further questions that you may have about Mitchell.
Sincerely,
James Christian Campbell

I worked with Mitchell at the very beginning stages of my photography business. I was new to the idea of designing a logo and had very few ideas of what I wanted. Mitchell was always very patient with me and allowed me to present my ideas and never made me feel like they were bad ones.
As the process went on I changed my mind several times and in the end I asked if we could scrap what we were working on to go in a different direction. Again, he showed his willingness and patience to work with me. I love the end product and every time I either pass out my business card or people see my watermark on my photos they compliment the design. I would highly recommend Mitchell to anyone looking for a graphic designer!
To Whom It May Concern:
It is my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Mitch Wyss. As one of the Design Technology instructors here at Ivy Tech Community College-Northeast, I have had Mitch in several different computer graphic related courses over the last two years. I have seen a wide variety of digital design work that Mitch has created and it is my professional opinion that he has what it takes to succeed as a graphic designer after he graduates.
What stands out about Mitch is his determination to complete the job successfully. The work Mitch produces in class is consistently above average. He never settles for the bare minimum required of him and goes above and beyond what his peers are doing. He is always thinking outside of the box, which is invaluable in the graphic design industry. These traits, along with his positive attitude, excellent communications skills, and natural artistic talent are what will allow Mitch to thrive in the design industry.
I genuinely believe that hiring Mitch would be beneficial to your company.
Sincerely,

To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing this letter in recommendation of Mitch Wyss. I served as Mitch’s direct supervisor in his position as an Ice Cream Maker for Nestle Dreyer’s Ice Cream and had many positive interactions with him. On numerous occasions he made apparent to me his natural tendency to be inquisitive of new processes, and his strong desire to be actively challenged on a daily basis.
I was impressed by his courage to approach me directly and state that he was ready to take on new responsibilities and broaden his horizons within his role on the production floor. I happily obliged and he was able to quickly and successfully function at a high level in a new work module.
His self-motivation shone through in his designing of a new tool that could be used to accomplish an ergonomically challenging task in his work area, including the design of preliminary sketches and dimensions to expedite its fabrication. He had not been asked to perform this task, nor was it a part of his job expectation; he simply saw a problem that he and others were experiencing and worked to solve it.
In summary, I feel that Mitch would be a great candidate for a position that requires self-motivation, a desire to learn and self-educate, and the creativity to identify and facilitate new and creative ideas.
Kind Regards,
Daniel J. Coffey
